      Wilhelm Albermann (1835 - 1913) - a monumental bronze figure of Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck

      Bronze with brown patina, marked "W. Albermann fec." on the side of the base, the foundry stamp on the back of the base. Prince Otto von Bismarck in the uniform of the Seydlitz cuirassiers with cuirassier's helmet, long coat and tall boots with spurs, his left hand resting on a cuirassier's sword. Small dents here and there, green age patina, signs of use and age. Height 86 cm, weight ca. 35 kg. Very detailed figure adequately representing Bismarck's attitude and character. Very rare in this size. Wilhelm Albermann studied at the Berlin art academy while serving in the military and is especially present in the Rhineland with his monumental works. Condition: II

Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck-Schönhausen (1815-1898) was a German politician and statesman. From 1862 to 1890, he worked as Prime Minister of Prussia; from 1867 to 1871, he was also Chancellor of the North German Confederation. From 1871 to 1890, Bismarck was the first Chancellor of the German Empire. Condition: The figure is in very good condition, showing only the lightest wear. The height, including the plinth, is 90 cm. Among his significant works is the war memorial in Elberfeld (1877) and the Statues of Walraff and Richartz in front of the MAKK In Cologne. There are light traces of oxidation on the shirt of the smith. The figure measures 24 cm in height, including the plinth. Wilhelm Albermann (1835-1913) Wilhelm Albermann attended the Kunstakademie in Berlin. He initially worked for his teachers Hugo Hagen and August Fischer, before he settled as a freelance sculptor in Cologne in 1865. In 1871 he founded a commercial art school.
