Differential taxation is not possible This photograph by the Latvian-American artist Ulvis Alberts from the series ‘Camera as Passport’ was shot in Seattle in 1968. In the late 60s, Alberts created a range of photographs in the coastal seaport, which consisted of portraits of music legends such as Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix but also political figures like Robert ‘Bobby’ Kennedy – John F. Kennedy’s younger brother – shown here during a public appearance, surrounded by the press and enthusiastic voters. When the photo was taken, Kennedy ran as candidate for the presidential election in 1968, before he was assassinated in the same year. The photograph is mounted on cardboard and in very good condition with hardly any signs of age and wear. The cardboard is signed and dated in pencil lower right ‘Ulvis Alberts 1968’. The back is inscribed in pencil ‘© 2002 Ulvis Alberts’. The photo measures 24.1 x 34.1 cm, the cardboard measures 50.8 x 40.6 cm. The mat measures 50 x 40 cm. (tfa) Ulvis Alberts (b. 1942) Ulvis Alberts was born in Latvia in 1942. In 1949 he immigrated with his family to America. Here he studied at the University of Washington. His first portraits were created in Seattle in the late 60s. Later, Albert became known for his photographs of movie stars from the 70s and 80s such as John Wayne, Christopher Reeve and Jack Nicholson. During a later creative period he documented the world of poker playing. Today original silver gelatin prints by Ulvis Alberts are held in many private collections. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
