He studied at the Vienna Art Academy under Christian Griepenkerl and Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels and then in Karlsruhe under Gustav Schönleber. From 1893, the artist lived in Vienna; he undertook many trips, including to the Balkans and the North and Baltic Seas. He was a member of the Künstlerhaus Vienna, the Hagenbund and the Association of Visual Artists of Styria. He is best known for his impressionistic landscapes and depictions of environments but also worked as an illustrator. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights.       Oil on canvas Austria, circa 1930 Eduard Ameseder (1856-1938) - Austrian painter, pupil of Eduard von Lichtenfels and Gustav Schönleber Signed 'E Ameseder' lower right Dimensions: 64 x 79 cm Good condition Provenance: Private collection, Austria Attractive view of the partly shaded harbor of Vernazza with its colorful facades and some boats; paintings by Eduard Ameseder fetch up to 12,000 Euros on the international auction market The present painting by Eduard Ameseder shows a view of the idyllic fishermen's village Vernazza in Liguria. In the foreground a few boats are lying in the harbor. The reflecting surface of the water is rendered with broad dabs of color. In the background the viewer sees the colorful facades of the sleepy little town, nestled in a rocky landscape scenery and illuminated by the warm Italian sun. The artist has captured the southern summer atmosphere with a warm color palette. Ameseder has created several motifs of the Italian Riviera and the environs of Rome and Venice. The painting is overall in very good condition. The canvas is relined along the edges and there are minor retouchings to the borders. There is a tiny color loss to the sky. The painting is unframed. The work is signed lower right 'E Ameseder'. The stretcher frame measures 64 x 79 cm. Eduard Ameseder (1856-1938) From 1877 to 1884 Edward Ameseder studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Eduard von Lichtenfels. He then became a pupil of Gustav Schönleber in Karlsruhe. From 1893 onwards he lived and worked in Vienna where he contributed to the design of the Natural History Museum.
