Poklong Anading (b. 1975) - drawing straight circle

        Est: ₱260,000 - ₱338,000

Artist: Poklong Anading (b. 1975) Title: drawing straight circle Signed & Dated: 2005 Medium: cement and urine on wooden board Measurements: 60” x 60” (152 cm x 152 cm)   Exhibited: Disappearance Resonates, Theo Gallery, Makati City, 2005 Write Up: Visual Artist Poklong Anading creates a cool yet elegant work that seems disembodied not only physically but metaphorically as well. The painting entitled Drawing Straight Circle is defined by a whirlpool of saturated gray complemented by a textural experience which reveals the palpability of the purely visual. The areas where the weave of the canvas can be glimpsed beneath the paint are blurred by the bold and summary brushwork. AndingÂ’s piece unearths numerous alluring ideas on the importance of intuition and spontaneity in creative expression. Poklong Anading is a multifaceted contemporary artist whose works tackle a variety of media such as painting, sculpture, photography, and video installations. As an artist, AnadingÂ’s prime focus is to investigate the complexity of reality through comprehensive yet coherent creations that blur the line between memory and facticity. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines in 1999. He then went on to grab multiple awards such as the Ateneo Studio Residency Grant, the prestigious Thirteen Artists Awards from the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2006, and the Ateneo Art Award in 2008
