        Collection of four antique engravings from the Architectura Curiosa Nova series by George Andreas Bockler (1648-1685), published in 1664 in Nuremberg, Germany. Bockler, a German architect and engineer from Nuremberg was fascinated with water-raising devices, mills and other industrial machinery, fountains and all things mechanical, especially machines with many gears and complex moving parts. Architectura Curiosa Nova is a comprehensive overview of the fountains of Europe with an introduction about the technical side of hydraulic engineering. It shows many examples of fountains and the differing effects that can be created by the flow of water through them.  Fountain, Architectura Curiosa nova (Woman in armor), c1664, measures 12 7/8" x 8 1/2". Fountain, Architectura Curiosa nova (Men and horse), c1664, measures 12 7/8" x 8 1/2". Very good condition, clean edges, no tears but uneven left paper edge, some smudging lower right corner of paper.
