      Alfred Angeletti (France, 1919-1991) - Bird, Oil on Board. Signed. Authenticity of the painting was confirmed by the artists son. 38x46cm. Alfred Angeletti was French, he lived in Nice. He follows jointly for four years, the courses of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Institute of Decorative Arts of the Building, in Liege. He worked for years in an expressionist way, often parallel to Art Brut, with from time to time, (from 1947) incursions towards non-figuration. Experimented, throughout these years, with different techniques: paste, scraping, welts, splashes, etc. The constant concern is to obtain diversity in simplicity: proposals, awareness of the line, the edge of the bands, surfaces, by the work of the brushes, always visible (even streaks between the keys), finally in the colors. Intersecting paths, another key word, both for the story of the painter than for the history of his painting: intertwine a mother and a child (1950), intertwine music and the choir of Pilgrims (1960), criss-cross from one canvas to another the colored bands (1965), criss-cross and the surging passion of the monochrome flags (1968) and the little touches-with the fingertips-for a silent gradation (1973) and the friezes, limits and colors, crosses and keys (course of 1979), finally intertwine, to repopulate the music, the Black and the homage to Durufle (1985). This personal journey, away from the mainstream present in Nice however crossed the preoccupations of the artists. Thus the meeting with Picasso in the early fifties as the contact with the great Americans at the Brussels Exhibition in 1958 or the presence of the Schools of Nice (New Realism, Supports Surfaces) pushed Alfred Angeletti to deepen his approach, to found it, to engrave it in the gesture of painting.
