This lot and the next one correspond to two models or cardboards created for the realization of the hangings of the bedroom of Charles III in the New Palace of Madrid. This decoration, commissioned in 1761, was an important iconographic project that exalted the figure of the King and the Monarchy, commissioned to William of Anglois (h. 1720-1786) and completed by Jose del Castillo (1737-1793) between 1771-73. The set consisted of seventy-seven cloths made in the Royal Tapestry Factory of Santa Barbara in Madrid, woven with wool, silk, gold and silver threads. Ferdinand VII modified the royal bedroom into a living room, and today the ensemble can be seen in the so-called Sala Amarilla (Yellow Room).
