          Attributed to José Rafael Aragón (1796 - 1862) Cristo Crucificado ca. 1820-1860 wood, gesso, pigment 16 3/4 x 11 x 3 in. Hand-carved figure with pigment painted over gesso. The head is bowed and body is suspended from cross with wooden pegs through hands and feet. Blood trails painted on forehead, arms, chest, thighs, knees and feet. He wears a black and blue banded loincloth. Abdomen area is sunken in a pronounced manner.

          Attributed to José Rafael Aragón (1795 - 1862) Cristo Crucificado ca. 1820 wood, gesso, pigment 25 1/4 x 14 x 6 in. Christ Crucified. Well carved Christ figure on the cross, his head with realistic features and closed eyes, gently tilts to his right, wearing a crown of thorns. The ribs are carved in a horizontal fashion with an oval depression in the abdominal area. The loincloth is angled and flows as is in a gentle breeze, tied in a soft knot: yellow with red painted elements. The body has a blue cast to the skin. The blood trails are delicate, end in small drops and appear on the forehead, palms, arms, heart, knees, thighs and feet.
