Image painted with handmade pigment over gessoed pine board. San Jose wears a red crown and holds the Christ Child on one arm and a monstrance in the other. He wears a long white cloak with red feather decoration over a long red dress. The field appears as brown atmospheric. The retablo is mounted in simple tin tubing frame with tin backing.

Hand-carved figure wears a carved crown, long blue cloak, with delicate painted white star forms, falls over shoulders and long red dress. Her hands are held in prayer. Carved wooden “rays” surround her figure. Three faces appear at her hem, painted face appears on lower orb of figure and rests on upper tier of painted base.

            Attributed to José Aragón (1796 - 1850) Bulto of San Francisco de Asís ca. 1830 wood, gesso, pigment 28 3/4 x 8 x 7 in. St. Francis of Assisi. Large male figure wears a long indigo gown with carved folds in the skirt. Striking facial features include contoured hair, finely painted eyebrow and eyes with lashes and fringes, thick black beard. He has blood wounds on his forehead, cheek and stigmata on his hands. According to Marie Romero Cash, this figure may have been a standing Jesus Nazareno with red painted robe.
