The diary-sheets Each ballpoint pen on paper, approx. 68 x 53 cm (including frame) Provenance: Galerie Mickery, Loenersloot Note: In 1960 the art society Mickery was founded in Loenersloot, the Netherlands. The society consisted of a gallery, a theatre and a book- and design department and was a stimulating force behind the avant-garde of that time. Key figure was artist and producer Ritsaert ten Cate (1938-2008) a man of many talents, whose experimental techniques are still, or again, used in today’s theatre. In 1966 Ten Cate organized the exhibition Project & Object, with artists such as Joseph Beuys, Bruce Naumann, Carl Andre and Jan Dibbets as participants. He founded the DasArts theatre academy in 1993, and after seven years made a career switch from managing DasArt to become an artist after studying at the ‘Rijkacademie’. He was knighted in the ‘Order van Oranje-Nassau’ and in 2017 a bridge in Amsterdam was named after him. This lot was part of the once vast collection of Ritsaert ten Cate. (9x)
