Falaka Yimer earned a diploma at the Addis Ababa School of Fine Arts and also holds a Masters in Fine Arts from Howard University. Primarily known as a printmaker, Yimer has been featured in several individual exhibitions since the 1979s, including the Campbelltown City Bicentennial Art Gallery (2001); London's Savannah Gallery (1993); Duke Ellington School of Arts (1987), Noa Gallery (1979) and Market 5 Gallery (1979) in Washington, DC; and Africa Creates '72 in New York (1972). In addition, the artist has participated in many group exhibitions in London, Italy, Ethiopia, and the Washington DC metro area. Since 2001, Yimer has lived and worked in New South Wales, Australia.
