      ROBERT MORGAN [ART] & JOHN ARMSTRONG [LAYOUT] Gay Freedom Celebration Offset lithograph, double-sided newsprint poster and program. 762x578 mm; 30x22 3/4 inches. Gay Freedom Day Committee, San Francisco. 1975. A rare document from the early years of San Francisco's Pride celebrations. Begun in 1970 the event was originally known as the Gay Liberation March and then Christopher Street West. It took the name Gay Freedom Day in 1974. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Harvey Milk (at that point a candidate for City Supervisor) participated in the parade in 1975.

      Robert Houston Armstrong (Tennessee, 1825-1896) oil on canvas still life depicting dried corn hanging from a nail. Possible faint signature lower left. Old label en verso reads "Painted by Robert Houston Armstrong". Old restoration label en verso. Housed in a simple wood frame with gilt painted beaded liner. Sight - 16 1/2" H x 13 1/2" W. Framed - 24 1/4" x 21 3/8". Provenance: Property of a direct descendant of Adelia Armstrong Lutz. Note: Armstrong was the father of Adeila Armstrong Lutz. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and designed his home "Bleak House" which still stands today in Knoxville. He was a skilled amateur painter.       Robert Armstrong ANCAD (b.1953) LANDSCAPE WITH CATTLE AND RIVER-BED signed and dated [1991] on reverse oil on canvas 91 by 117cm., 36 by 46in. Born in Gorey, Co. Wexford, Armstrong studied at NCAD and was a founder member of the Temple Bar Gallery and Studios. His first solo show in Dublin was held at the Peacock Gallery in 1984; the same year he won the prestigious GPA Award for Emerging Artists. He has since exhibited extensively, particularly with the Riverrun Gallery and Hallward Gallery, Dublin. In 1997 he was included in the Critics Choice (Aidan Dunne) Banquet Show at the RHA, whilst in 1999 he was one of three Irish artists selected to exhibit at the Painting Centre in New York. He is now Head of the Department of Fine Art Painting at NCAD.
