VICENTE ARNÁS LOZANO (Madrid, 1949). “The artist and the model”, 1999. Oil on canvas. Attached certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. Signed in the lower right corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back.

      Est: €15,000 - €16,000

VICENTE ARNÁS LOZANO (Madrid, 1949). "The artist and the model", 1999. Oil on canvas. Attached certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. Signed in the lower right corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back. Measurements: 175 x 142 cm; 162 x 130 cm (frame). In this work Vicente Arnás rescues a very recurrent theme in the history of art, which deals with the relationship between the model and the artist. In this case we are presented with a hybrid model posing on her couch, with a naked torso and fish tails instead of legs. The artist, who is in the foreground with respect to the model, contemplates her in a curious, though not excessive, way, perhaps scrutinising the hybridisation between the feathers of the jacket, the human torso and face and the scales of the tail. The situation is notable for the mutism, the artist looks at the model and the model at the spectator, so that despite sharing the same space, they do not present any kind of relationship. Vicente Arnás is a painter from Madrid who began his artistic career linked to the world of advertising. After several years of experience, in 1976, he had his first individual exhibition, which was held in the Macarrón gallery in Madrid. The images of Vicente Arnás always stand out for their realism, in which he introduces an element of distortion that results in disturbing works, close to magical realism or surrealism. Creating independent and personal universes such as the one reflected in this painting. Vicente Arnás is a painter from Madrid who began his artistic career linked to the world of advertising. After several years of experience, in 1976, he had his first individual exhibition, which was held in the Macarrón room in Madrid. After the success of his first exhibition, he began an exhibition career that has taken him to places like New York, or different European countries. Participating in prestigious fairs such as Arco, or Europ Art, held in Geneva. He has also been awarded on numerous occasions, being medal of honor in the BMW painting award and receiving the prize of the Real maestranza of Seville, among others. Something that has earned him the recognition of both the public and the critics. His painting is characterized by the recreation of dreamlike worlds, placid, where it seems that time stands still. He creates worlds of realistic aesthetics, close to currents such as magical realism, or influences such as those of the painter Arcimboldo or Bosch. During a period of time he was part of the group "Nueve expresiones" with whom he exhibited in several collective exhibitions.
