Siegfried Arno / Aron (GERMAN, 1895 - 1975) original self portrait oil painting depicting the artist painting a portrait of his wife Kitty Matern / Katharina Matfus (AUSTRIAN / HUNGARIAN, 1912 - 1998); also a thespianknown for her roles in Das Feuerwerk (1971), Five Fingers (1959) and Das Kriminalgericht (1963). A must have work for an enthusiast of the actor / artist. Signed "arno" to lower left. Mounted in a gold painted framewith fabric matting. Oil on stretcher measures approx. 24" height x 20" width. Measures approx. 29 1/4" height x 25" width overall including mat & frame. Provenance: Acquired from a Boca Raton, FL estate. About the artist: was a German-Jewish film actor who appeared in such films as Pardon My Sarong and The Mummy's Hand. He may be best remembered from The Palm Beach Story (1942) as Toto, the nonsense-talking mustachioed man who hopelessly pursues Mary Astor's "Princess Centimillia".
