Kalman Aron's paintings may just have saved his life. Born in Latvia in 1924, Aron's talent was recognized early, and at the age of 13, he had already been commissioned by the Latvian president. Once the war hit in 1941, artist Kalman Aron was taken to various Nazi concentration camps where he was able to trade his sketches for extra morsels of food, which may well have kept him alive. 

Kalman Aron's paintings cover many themes, but he's best known for his portrait commissions and landscape paintings. Kalman Aron's art is for sale very rarely, given his global prominence, but his artwork, both in oils and watercolors, does come up for sale at times.
