Carved wooden fish model, Harry N. Ashford (1848-1929).

Ashford worked for Hardy Brothers in London. Subject matter is a 25 lb. Atlantic Salmon caught at Hallmonds Pool, Frafjord, Norway, August 31, 1908. Fish is approximately 40" long.

In 1895, The Hardy Brother's Tackle Company began carving custom fish trophy plaques for their customers in London. Harry Ashford was employed as a fish carver from 1907-1914. The majority of his work was unsigned; trophy information is listed on the backboard. This well carved and painted salmon is mounted on a contemporary 34 by 11 inch walnut backboard.
