      Max Bach (1841 Stuttgart - 1914 ibid.): Ulm Cathedral, 1877, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Date: 1877 Description: Inscribed lower right below the image "etiert von Maler Max Bach 1877", named "Dom zu Ulm", "Probedruck". View of Ulm Cathedral, a church in Ulm built in the Gothic architectural style. The foundation stone was laid in 1377, when Ulm was a free imperial city and still Roman Catholic. The sermons of the Ulm reformer Konrad Sam were groundbreaking for the gradual introduction of the Reformation in Ulm. In 1530, the decision was made in a citizens' vote in favour of the Protestant confession, so Ulm Minster became a place of worship for the Protestant Church.
