        Antonio Banzo (1777 Rome - 1859 Rom) after Nicolas Le Sueur (1691 Paris - 1764 ibid.): Miracle of healing of St Paul, 19th century, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Inscription: Lower right signed in the printing plate: "Banzo inc.". lower left inscribed in the printing plate: "Le Sueur dip.". At the lower part further inscription: "Miracolo di San Paolo". Date: 19th century Description: The Apostle Paul is considered one of the most important missionaries of early Christianity. From being a fierce opponent of Christians, he became a devout advocate of the faith through the appearance of the risen Christ - hence the well-known phrase: "From Saul to Paul". This depiction shows the saint miraculously healing a man in chains. The scene takes place in the palace of the Roman emperor, who is enthroned in the background and already foreshadows the saint's martyrdom by his stern gesture.
