Engraved title, 12 engraved plate lists, 600 engraved plates (lacking plates 601 and 602 as often, plates 501-504 bound in text volume), and 4 additional plates in text volume (one printed on recto and verso) most color-printed with engraved descriptive text at the foot. Contemporary pink paper covered boards (some chipping to spines and edges). FIRST EDITION of "probably the first botanical work completely colour-printed without retouching by hand" (Great Flower Books), "illustrated with coloured engravings that are both delicate and accurate" (Blunt & Stearn p.71).
