William Randolph Barbee (American, 1818-1868) Bust of Venus marble sculpture signed and dated "Barbee, 1858" 26 1/2 x 16 x 9 inches Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty, turned to her right, with deep-set almond shaped eyes, curved eyebrows and full lips. Her hair pulled back, falling in cascading wavy locks, with a beaded headpiece. The lower portion encompassed with tulip flowers and scrolling motifs.
