      WILLIAM BARCLAY CLIBBORN (BRITISH, B. 1878) The Cable Layer "Colonia" 1902 Signed 'W.B. Clibborn' (lower left) Gouache 10.5 x 15.75in. (26.7 x 40cm.) Built by Wigham Richardson (later Swan Hunter) in 1902 for the Telegraph Construction & Maintenance Co Ltd, Colonia registered nearly 8,000 tons when launched. Converted in 1928 to a whaling ship, she was under the name Sudmeer when she was torpedoed and sunk by aircraft in October 1944. ++Re-framed, new mount, good condition and colour
