United States Barnard Postal History Group Fascinating group of approximately fifty-two envelopes, addressed to Mrs. J.G. Barnard, the wife of Brevet Major General John Gross Barnard (1815-1822) who was the Chief Engineer of the Army of the Potomac. The earliest is an 1851 3 Cent, with the majority being 1 Cent and 3 Cent Bank Note usages between the late 1870 to the mid 1880s showing a fabulous variety of Cancels, with corner advertising and a few foreign destination using multiple denominations, also a few embossed envelopes, an occasional flap is missing and some usual usage wear should be expected and without content, still a charming group, Good to Very Fine.
