      BARNEY, JOSEPH (Wolverhampton 1751 - 1832 London) Grosser Blumenstrauss in einer reliefierten Tonvase mit Vogelnest. 1807. Öl auf Holz. Unten links auf der Plinthe signiert und datiert: J. Barney. 1807. 81 x 63 cm. Provenienz: Europäische Privatsammlung. Joseph Barney, der sich auf Blumen- und Früchtedarstellungen spezialisierte, war Schüler von Antonio Zucchi (1726-1795) und Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807) und später Zeichenlehrer an der Royal Military Academy. Zum ersten Mal stellte er 1777 in der Society of Artists in London aus und war von 1784-1827 regelmässig in den Royal Academy Ausstellungen vertreten. Seine Blumen- und Früchtedarstellungen fanden besonders durch ihre zarte Ausführung viel Anklang, sodass er schliesslich 1815 eine Anstellung als Blumenmaler beim Prinz-Regenten erhielt.
