      Domingo Barreres Abstract Oil Painting on Canvas. Signed on stretcher. 40 x 52".Domingo Barreres was born and raised in Valencia, Spain. He came to America in 1960 and studied at the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts where he was awarded the prestigious Traveling Scholarship Award in 1965 and 1982. He taught as part time and full time faculty at the Museum School from 1967-2006. ------------------------------------- He said that the two greatest influences in his career were his Catholic upbringing and his immersion in the New York School of abstraction. He uses a wide range of mediums to convey his subject matter in which he uses abstract, ethereal or supernatural imagery. He has exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, and continues to exhibit in Boston, New York and Spain.
