      Shirley Gordon Barrick (American, Cleveland School, 1885-1942), "Schooner and Row Boat", etching, signed lower right in graphite "Gordon Barrick", matted and framed. 8 1/8" x 9 3/4" (plate). 17 1/4" x 18" (framed). Condition: good, some water marks on matt. Note: Barrick was a noted northern Ohio artist, who specialized in landscape scenes. He invented a mechanism called the "Winter Box" which would protect and warm an artists hands so that he or she could work en plein air even in bitterly cold conditions. He was a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art and a member of the Cleveland Society of Artists.
