Alexej Iljitsch Baschlakow moved from Russia to Germany in 1945. From 1954 to 1957, he trained as a painter in Hanover. From 1958 to 1959, he studied at the School of Applied Arts in Hanover. In 1962 and 1967, he lived in Florence and Rome, which strongly influenced as to the perspective drawing and the motifs. The work of the Russian poet Michael Bulgakov provided him with further inspiration.
