        MILOS ALEXANDER BAZOVSKY (1899-1968) AT PASTURE 1950s, Slovakia Compared with the earlier painting Heľpianka, the preoccupation with the Slovak countryside and country life remains clear, but the brushwork and color scheme have undergone a change. The painting is loose, dominated by rich greens with contrasting red and orange. Both are typical for Bazovský in the 1950s. Oil on board, signed bottom right: M.A.B, same signature in back.

        MILOS ALEXANDER BAZOVSKY (1899-1968) HEĽPIANKA 1931, Slovakia (Martin) An important work that dates from the time after Bazovský returned from traveling for his studies across central and northern Slovakia over the previous two years, subsequently settling in Martin. He turned his attention to the areas of Heľpa and Detva. Paintings from this period show a characteristic focus on a shade of thick blue and red, along with earth tones and, above all, composition. Work published in Ján Abelovský, Jozef Ruttkay: Miloš Alexander Bazovský, INTERPOND Bratislava, 1999, pg 24. Oil on canvas, signed and dated bottom right: Bazovský 1931.
