Alan Bean Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1932 - d. 2018

A truly unique painter, artist Alan Bean did not begin his career in the art world, but rather as an astronaut for the United States NASA program. Born in Texas in 1932, he went on to study aeronautical engineering, but later left his job at NASA to pursue painting full-time. He was the fourth man on the moon as part of the Apollo 12 mission, and spent a second mission orbiting the Earth, both of which inspired the subjects of later Alan Bean paintings.

Artist Alan Bean strove to bring his experiences in space, particularly on the moon, to life through his work. He used lunar tools to add texture to his paintings and often sprinkled moon dust on them or stamped them with an Apollo boot model, adding to the value of Alan Bean lunar art for sale.
