      John Bee (B. 1895) Suffolk LNER poster UK. Suffolk LNER poster by John Bee Depicting an advertisement for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to Suffolk. An idyllic image of a typical village church and house in Suffolk. It is possible that Bee has chosen the village of Kersey for his setting. Overall Size: 43 x 28 3/8 in. Sight Size: 39 1/4 x 24 1/2 in. #1073 The artist John Francis Bee was born in Wolverhampton in 1895. During his career, he produced several posters and railway carriage prints for the London and North Eastern Railway, the Great Western Railway and British Railways. Many of his works feature idyllic scenes of the various destinations to entice rail passengers to visit. John Bee himself distinguished his poster work and his railway carriage prints as two forms of art. He would sign his railway carriage prints, his posters however, were given a more anonymous signature, the capital letter B. Location A/B High

      Original Artwork – John Francis Bee (1895-) watercolour depicting horse and cart within village scene, possibly a design for Railway poster. Designer of stage settings, posters and showcards, born in Wolverhampton Studied art for four years in Europe and the Near East. Exhibited in Manchester and worked at Loughborough and Liverpool. His work was illustrated in 'Commercial Art' and 'Posters and Publicity'. Towards end of his life, he worked in the advertising department of the Norvic Shoe Company in Finchley, North London. His posters bore a distinctive capital 'B' monogram, but his carriage panel artwork carried his normal signature. Produced posters for LNER & BR. Produced artwork for LNER Post-War, W Region series. Within oak frame measures 52x52cm approx.
