Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski was born in 1929, and his artwork mirrors the dark and volatile time of his youth and growing up during WWII. Though he studied architecture in college, he grew a distaste for the profession after working the job for a short time, and instead, threw himself into his paintings in the early 1950s.
