        Est: $160 - $200

GOTTLOB BERGER (1896 - 1975) German SS general, Chief of Staff for the military SS and head of the SS main leadership office. Convicted in the Nuremberg trials for his role in the murder of European Jews and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Contemporary 8 x 10 in. b/w photo showing a dispirited Berger smoking a cigarette while under interrogation during the Nuremberg trials. The verso designates this photo as being from the ‘Public Relations Photo Section Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes Nurnberg, Germany'. Attached to the front at the bottom left is Berger's cut signature in blue ink. Very good.

        Est: $300 - $400

GOTTLOB BERGER (1896 - 1975) German SS general, Chief of Staff for the military SS and head of the SS main leadership office. Convicted in the Nuremberg trials for his role in the murder of European Jews and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Rare, fine content A.D.S. in German, penned within a post-war Christmas card sent to an unnamed friend but almost certainly to a fellow ex-SS officer. In full: 'I hope you haven't flown over to the wrong side. That would be a pity for you and your fine name'. Nicely signed, and in near fine condition. Following his release from prison, Berger remained with the far right, pro-Nazi faction while many of his old comrades joined the Bundeswehr and police organizations.

        Est: $200 - $300

(1896 - 1975) German SS general, Chief of Staff for the military SS and head of the SS main leadership office. Convicted in the Nuremberg trials for his role in the murder of European Jews and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Oversized S.P., 14 x 10 in. b/w, an image of Heinrich Himmler greeting two wounded Dutch members of the SS-Panzer Division 'Wiking', signed at lower-right setting forth his ranks and dates he held those offices. Two vertical creases near the center do not substantially detract. Matted in with silver wool fillets and black felt, and an engraved plaque.

        Est: $280 - $380

(1896 - 1975) German SS general, Chief of Staff for the military SS and head of the SS main leadership office. Convicted in the Nuremberg trials for his role in the murder of European Jews and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Rare war-date T.L.S. on his "SS-Brigadefuhrer Berger" letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Aug. 6, 1940 to Matthaus Wachter in Gerstretten. In this rather cryptic message, Berger requests a new, reasonably justified request from his correspondent and he sends along his best wishes to the man and his family. A few trivial spots, else very good.
