Archive of the artist Gerard Bergman, consisting of approximately ±380 drawings, sketches, designs and printed matter, mainly dating from 1940-1960. = An interesting collection, containing ±50 printed items (i.a. ±20 letterheads, ±20 book wrappers (incl. 5 duplicates), ±5 newspaper clippings, a calendar and one poster), a large variety of drawings, namely ±80 drawings (mainly pencil, sometimes pen and ink and/ or watercolour, various sizes, between ±5,6x8,7 cm. and ±35x24,5 cm., (some) dated in pencil between 1931 and 1960, some signed in pencil, showing views/ landscapes of i.a. Aanschot, Ameland, Bergen op Zoom, Beynat, Enschede, Rotterdam, Rouen, Veere en Zierikzee); ±9 pencil drawings w. designs for chandeliers, vases and urns (sizes between ±11,7x6,8 cm. and ±15x11,8 cm., w. intended height written in pencil below); ±15 drawings in pencil and watercolour w. designs for tiles (sizes between ±11,4x9,4 cm. and ±25x20 cm.); ±120 original designs, drawings, press proofs and sketches (mainly in pencil, sometimes pen and ink and/ or watercolour, various sizes between ±5,7x9,8 cm. and 36,5x26 cm., (some) dated between 1941 and 1960), showing portraits, ex libris and bookcover designs, i.a. (naked) women, animals (fish, birds, an elephant and a giraffe), fruit, flowers and different type of fonts); ±15 linocuts (sizes between ±23x14,7 and 30,4x23 cm., some monogrammed in the block, w. i.a. an announcement, a church and a windmill), one linocut block w. a selfportrait and his intials, which are mistakenly not cut out in reverse and finally 3 sketchbooks containing in total aprox. 100 lvs. (±50 times w. drawings on recto and verso) w. num. sketches and drawings in pencil (lvs. between 24x16 cm. and 31x24,5 cm.), w. studies of female nudes and harbour views w. boats.
