                  IL SARCOFAGO Öl auf Leinwand, auf Karton. 50 x 40 cm. Mittig oben monogrammiert und datiert „E.B 1958“, verso betitelt und bezeichnet „Roma: July - August 1958“. In dekorativem Rahmen mit Blütendekor. In südlicher Landschaft unter ockerfarbenem bis rötlichen Himmel ein antiker, übergroßer, rechteckiger Steinsarkophag mit eingesetzten figurativen Platten auf einem Sockel. Davor, auf einer Bank in Rückenansicht sitzend drei Figuren, die auf den Sarkophag blicken und gleichzeitig einen Größenvergleich ermöglichen. Seit 1923 beschickte der Künstler den Salon d´Automne und den Salon des Tuileries in Paris. Zu seinen Werken gehören Bildnisse, Landschaften, Figürliches, Illustrationen. Condition Report: Overall: 64.5 x 56.5cm Craquelure starting to emerge in places. Some yellow discolouration to the varnish, mainly to the sky. There is a 1cm stripe along the left edge and a 0.5cm stripe along top edge where the colours appear darker, please see images. Under UV light there is some uneveness to the varnish which is fluorescing. Some further small areas of retouching, please see detailed condition images.
