PIERRE BERNARD (ATTRIBUTED) 1715 - 1770 - LOUIS XV. COMMODE

      Est: -

An exceptional chest of drawers from the period of Louis XV. It consists of a pair of drawers with rich chinoiserie inlay with three geishas playing musical instruments in the middle of a garden consisting of several species of exotic woods (rosewood, rosewood, maple, oak, poplar) framed by gilded bronze with a plant acanthus motif, from which the handles protrude. The gilded bronze stretches around the entire perimeter of the chest of drawers and is finished with four Rococo legs. On top with a pink-colored marble slab. The quality and craftmanship meet the standards of the most demanding clientele of its time. Pierre Bernard opened his carpentry workshop in 1744 on the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in Paris and soon received the title of "ébéniste privilégié du Roi suivant la cour" from the king. A similar chest of drawers is located in the Arte Antiga Art History Museum in Lisbon. Restored. Country: France, Location: Paris
