The current highest auction record for a similar landscape by Bertolotti is €13,000 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 8,000 Euro Next to some portraits, Cesare Bertolotti (1854-1932) painted mainly landscapes. His early works feature harmonious compositions with atmospheric lightning influenced by his teacher Roberto Venturi, while the later works are reminiscent of the dense brushwork of Franz von Lenbach. Besides further influences from the school of Brescia in the circle of Cesare Maccari, Bertolotti made out his own style, which generated atmospheric landscapes in delicate tonalities. Condition: The painting is in good condition according to age. The canvas is somewhat darkened. The paint surface shows minor craquelure and tiny stains. The frame is in good condition. The painting is 65 x 116 cm in size, while the frame measures 85 x 137 cm. Cesare Bertolotti (1854-1932) Born in Brescia, the painter Cesare Bertolotti studied in his hometown with Roberto Venturi and Achille Glisenti. In the 1870s, he went to Florence and visited the studio of Giuseppe Ciaranfi. In 1879, he moved to Milan and studied with Giuseppe Bertini at the Accademia di Brera. From 1880 to 1881, he lived in Rome and worked with Cesare Maccari. In 1882, he met Franz von Lenbach in Munich. Shortly thereafter, he returned to Brescia, where he founded the artists' association ‘Arte in Famiglia’. (cko) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
