      SIMON BESANGER (CIRCA 1775-1820)

      Est: €1,200 - €1,800

A Peasant in a Window, Smoking a Pipe Signed lower centre Oil on panel, 36.1 x 28.1 cm Note: Born in Holland around 1775, Simon Besanger entered the Hague Drawing Academy (which later transformed into The Royal Academy of Art), where he received a silver medal for his work. In 1828, Nolthenius de Man made an etching after this man smoking the pipe in a window, of which the print is in the collection of the Rijkmuseum Twente (acc.no. RP-P-OB-22.835). * Condition report available upon request
