He travelled extensively, mainly to Scandinavia. He escaped the pressure of the Nazi regime by moving to Rügen; nonetheless his works were banned from exhibitions in 1937.     Prof. Tom Beyer, Küstenlandschaft Kiefernwald auf hoher Küste am Meer, wohl Landschaft auf Rügen, der in der KPD engagierte Beyer entzog sich 1935 durch Übersiedlung nach Rügen den Repressalien des NS-Regimes und fand hier seine künstlerische Heimat, minimal pastose Landschaftsmalerei, Öl auf Leinwand, rechts unten signiert und datiert "Tom Beyer (19)37", alt hinterlegte Fehlstelle in der Leinwand, partiell Craquelure mit Farbaufschüsselung, etwas restaurierungsbedürftig, gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 54 x 70 cm. Künstlerinfo: dt. Maler, Zeichner und Graphiker (1907 Münster bis 1981 Stralsund), ab 1923–25 Schüler der Werkkunstschule Münster bei Isenberg, 1925–26 Schüler der Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf bei Theo Klaar, 1927 Studienreise nach Schweden, hier Schüler von Ernst Norlind in Landskrona, bereiste 1927–31 Finnland, Schweiz, Ungarn, Jugoslawien, Dänemark, Schweden und Paris, ab 1931 Atelier in Berlin, 1933–34 Studium bei Martin Bloch, 1935 freischaffend und Übersiedlung nach Göhren auf Rügen, 1937 Ausstellungsverbot, 1939–45 Kriegsdienst im 2. Weltkrieg, 1949 Leiter der Landeskunstschule Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Putbus, Mitglied des Verbandes bildender Künstler (VBK) der DDR, 1952 Übersiedlung nach Stralsund und freischaffend, ab 1972 Honorarprofessor an der Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, beschickte ab 1953 die Kunstausstellungen der DDR, Quelle: Vollmer, AKL, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" und Wikipedia. B. studied at the Werkkunstschule Münster as well as at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf. He travelled extensively, mainly to Scandinavia. He escaped the pressure of the Nazi regime by moving to Rügen; nonetheless his works were banned from exhibitions in 1937. One of his chief works is a fresco in the Stralsund town hall.
