She married Arnold Birt Ulph in 1904 in the free church St Ives. She lived at ' Bergholt' St Ives (Cromwell Terrace) and was painting from 1910 until her death in 1927. She was possibly the leader of the St Ives 'daub' club. Mrs J M Birt-Ulph exhibited at the Royal Academy 1917 'In Blackhurst Garden' and in 1918 'The Ouse at Houghton'
