      From the Estate of Blandy Boocock comes a special grouping of items dedicated to the memory of Harold Blandy (1889-1922), Boocock's cousin, who sacrificed his life helping the Russian people during the famine/typhus crisis in 1919-1923. Harold Blandy was educated at Yale and then served as a volunteer aviator for the British Air Force during WWI. After the war (1921) Blandy traveled to the Ufa region of Russia with the American Relief Administration to help with the starvation/typhus crisis. He traveled from village to village bringing food and medicine to those in need. Ironically Blandy contracted typhus and died in Russia. He was honored with a military funeral through the streets of Moscow and was given the highest honors accorded by the Soviet government. A hospital was named after him in Ufa. Included is an iron Sculpture created by an "illiterate" workman from Zlatoust (remote village in the Ural Mountains) and ordered by Oyezpolkom (mayor) for Blandy's mother depicting a blacksmith at his anvil with Russian inscription which translates: "Dedicated to the mother of Blandy in
