      The painter Oldřich Blažíček was not only a landscape painter, but his work also included another range of themes. In 1911 he was on a study stay in the Netherlands and probably there he painted one of the local girls in a traditional costume. Oldřich Blažíček portrayed reality extremely faithfully, in the open air he moved a certain step in all seasons and he also devoted himself to depicting interiors and bouquets.       From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The composition depicts a village cottage located in the very center of the snowy landscape. It is surrounded by a few trees without leaves and a wire, sometimes broken fence. The scenery captures the real Czech winter in the countryside - a simple theme, but impressively crafted. The painter often and gladly captured the winter atmosphere in nature. Blažíček was a painter of the open air, in all seasons he painted in the open air directly under the required shot. The presented Winter Landscape with a Cottage, probably a motif from the painter's native region - Vysočina, testifies to Blažíček's special art of concisely expressing the winter mood.       The composition of the painting captures a view of a gated farmhouse among the trees with remnants of thawing snow along the path. According to the expert opinion prepared by PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková, |“The Thaw in Veřovice, Moravian Wallachia is a very beautiful painting by Professor Oldřich Blažíček from his early period, in 1918. The painter often enjoyed capturing the atmosphere of winter in the countryside. Blažíček was a plein air painter, painting outdoors every season of the year. Farmhouses capped with snow, during the thaw, and in springtime inspired many recordings by Blažíček. The Thaw in Veřovice, Moravian Wallachia testifies to Blažíček’s art of aptly expressing the atmosphere in the countryside with snow and the thaw. The space is constructed through long and soft, flowing brushstrokes| the perspective is excellent, as is the use of color. It is dominated by brown, white and blue tones and shades. Blažíček always worked with lightness, spontaneity and joy. The farmhouses in Štramberk are a first-rate work by Blažíček and will be published in an upcoming monograph of the artist’s work.”

Painter Oldrich Blazicek was not only a landscape artist; his works include a whole array of subjects. As explained in the assessment by PhDr. Nadezda Blazicková-Horová, the artist’s granddaughter: “He enjoyed painting flowers and did so often, from cut flowers arranged in a vase to – later, when he suffered from rheumatism – flowers blooming in the garden at home, which be built in Hanspaulka, Prague–Dejvice, in 1928. This enchanting Bouquet of autumn flowers, prepared by the artist’s wife and skillfully arranged from brilliantly colored asters and chrysanthemums into a vase, is an indisputable and very beautiful work by Professor Oldrich Blazicek from 1926. It is remarkable for its effective composition and lovely range of colors, combining red, orange, blue, white and green tones and shades. It is undoubtedly one of the painter’s excellent works and is a prime example of his master painting skills.” The painting will be published in a monograph scheduled for publication in the autumn of 2019. Byl oceňován a vystavoval i v zahraničí, jeho práce jsou zastoupeny ve významných sbírkách. Narodil se ve Slavkovicích u Nového Města na Moravě, vyučil se nejdříve malířem pokojů u svého bratra, teprve později se díky podpoře hraběte Gudenuse z Velkého Meziříčí dostal na studia malířství do Prahy, nejprve na Vysokou školu uměleckoprůmyslovou (prof. Dítě a Mašek), poté na Akademii k H. Schweigerovi. Maloval náměty z rodné Vysočiny, ale také např. chrámové interiéry. V letech 1927-1948 byl profesorem malby na ČVUT. Byl oceňován a vystavoval i v zahraničí, jeho práce jsou zastoupeny ve významných sbírkách. Ze svých početných zahraničních cest, jež mu byly velkou inspirací, si Blažíček přinášel řadu rychlých záznamů viděných míst. Oldřich Blažíček (1887-1953) INTERIEUR DES DOMS IN KUTNÁ HORA. 1912.
