Both sheets are mounted side by side behind a mat at the reverse upper and lower edges. The frame is in good condition with only slight signs of use. The images measure each 13.2 x 10 cm, the sheets 42 x 29.7 cm. The framed dimensions are 52.3 x 62.3 cm. Anna and Bernhard Blume Anna (b. 1937) and Bernhard Blume (1937-2011) have become known as an artist couple. They gained notoriety through their serial large-format photographs in black and white, in which they often depict themselves. The Blumes studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf in the 1960s. Bernhard Blume also studied philosophy at the University of Cologne. In the 1980s, they worked as art teachers, amongst others. In 1987, Bernhard Blume was a professor of fine arts and visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. With their staged photographs, the artist couple dealt ironically with themes of the petite bourgeoisie. In addition to photographs, the Blumes created installations. Works of the Blumes are in the collections of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt, and the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, amongst others.
