Collection of Five Hannes Bok Lithographs Personally Owned by Ray Bradbury

      Est: $1,000 - $1,500

Ray Bradbury personally owned collection of five lithographs of art by Hannes Bok, including one Bok signed print. Bok's images portray men and women in varying states of nudity, with fantastical monsters and forms surrounding them. The pieces were drawn in the 1940's and printed in 1969 by Bokanalia, save for the signed print, which likely dates to the original printing in the 40's. Lithos comprise: (1) ''The Grey Powers'', signed in print ''Hannes Bok / 1945''; (2) ''The White Powers'', signed in print ''Hannes Bok / 1944''; (3) ''Black Powers'', signed in print ''34/100 / Hannes Bok 1944'', (4) ''The Black Powers'', with handwritten title, limitation number and artist signature in pencil, ''...20/100 / Hannes Bok / 1944'', (5) ''The Primal Powers'', signed in print ''Hannes Bok / 1945''. Each lithograph measures 11.5'' x 15.5'', save for the originally signed print of ''The Black Powers'', which measures 11.5'' x 16, taped at the top edge to a mat to an overall size of 14.5'' x 19''. Toning to ''The Black Powers'', overall very good; uniform mildewing to the 1969 prints, in good condition. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate.

      Est: $1,000 - $1,500

Ray Bradbury personally owned art by early sci-fi fanzine artist Hannes Bok, whose career Bradbury helped launch. Bradbury and Bok became acquainted in 1937; an outspoken admirer of Bok's art, Bradbury actively promoted him at the first World Science Fiction Convention, and ''Weird Tales'' magazine picked up the unknown artist. Pair of graphite and ink drawings of a nude female figure in flowing robes are studies for Bok's drawing titled, ''Woman Dancing'', which sold in 2011 for $3,884. Both pieces are matted and framed to an overall size of 10.25'' x 13.5''. Near fine. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate.
