      De dag spiegelt zich in zilver aan een vijver in Altena' - Signed and dated 1998 l.l. - Signed, titled and dated 1998 and 30 mei 1998 and annotated 20°C - bleke zon on the reverse side - Oil on board, 49.7 x 59.7 cm - N.B.: - At an early age Peter Bol followed in his father's footsteps, Kees Bol. This descendant painted after nature, prefferably outdoors, enabling him to experience the light, wind and weather personally. Despite his often classical subjects he produced innovative works with his quick brush strokes and expressionist use of colour: 'I observe with such happy eyes, I hope those who view my work look over my shoulder with equal joy. Then we would both be looking into the Great Wonder. How great that would be.' His poetic experience is translated in his use of titles which provide an insight into the emotions of Bols.
