Next to nudes and still lifes the landscape is a typical motif of the artist. Karl Bormann studied from 1947 to 1949 at the Academy in Stuttgart with Willi Baumeister. He was a teacher at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. During his life Bormann received many awards and prizes. The etching is signed and dated lower right in pencil „Bormann 63“ and inscribed lower left in pencil ‘Probedruck’. The sheet is overall in good condition with only two small glue remains at the upper corners. The plate measures 39.7 x 32 cm, the sheet 65.7 x 50,6 cm.
