Fountain- tack holes at the corners; scattered foxing, staining, and surface soiling. L''Angle d''un Musée- large horizontal tear at left sheet edge below center; tack holes at the corners; some rippling; scattered foxing, staining, and surface soiling. Tomb- all sheet corners with tears and losses; large creases through the images; some rippling; sheet edges with tiny tears and creases; a few scattered foxmarks and some staining; some surface soiling. Plan- Surface soiling, staining, and foxing; few tack holes along the left and right sheet edges; creases and small tears at the sheet edges.

Marca tipografica al frontespizio (sporadiche fioriture e bruniture, piccolo foro di tarlo al margine bianco di alcune carte.) Legatura coeva in piena pergamena semi-rigida con unhiatura e tracce di due bindelle (sguardie rinnovate). Prima edizione poco comune in bella copia che vede una traduzione francese pubblicata nel 1685 e una inglese nel 1687. 150,00 €

Trattato della cognizione pratica delle resistenze geometricamente dimostrato [...] ad uso d'ogni sorta d'edifizj, coll'aggiunta delle armature di varie maniere di coperti, volte, ed altre cose di tal genere. Torino, Stamperia Reale, 1748. In 4° (245 x 175 mm); [8], 313, [1] pagine. Antiporta allegorica, 25 tavole incise in rame fuori testo ripiegate in fine volume di schemi e figure geometriche ed edificatorie (mancano una tavola e l'ultima carta bianca, macchia al frontespizio, sporadiche leggere bruniture.) Legatura coeva in piena bazzana con fregi e titolo in oro al dorso, tagli rossi (tracce d'uso). Prima edizione dell'opera che fu ritenuta tra i migliori trattati settecenteschi di architettura pratica. Cicognara 887; Riccardi I, 169: "Buona edizione". 400,00€

(104.1 x 67.3cm) provenance: /spanPrivate Collection, Florida. note:/span The source subject for the present work is Robert Wood's etching & engraving of the same subject, executed in 1753. Wood surveyed the Palmyra ruins with his draughtsman Giovanni Battista Borra. Along with Borra, Wood was amongst the first to document the ancient Roman ruins of Palmyra and Baalbek. Wood's.The Ruins of Palmyra, Otherwise Tedmor, in the Desart (sic). London, comprised 59 etched and engraved plates after Borra.
