Hugues Bovy (1841-1903), Abraham Lincoln Emancipation of Slavery bronze medal, 1865 CE. An impressive bronze medal with a bold high relief portrait of Lincoln, serving as both a memorial to the assassinated president and a tribute to the Emancipation Proclamation of September 22, 1862. There are two varieties of this medal. The King-229 version reads, "Emancipation of Slavery Proclaimd," and the King-230 version, as here, with the word "Proclaimed" spelled out completely.
