      oil on canvas signed lower left 19,3 x 23 in framed Flooded with light the piece depicts two scenes simultaneously. On the one hand, an autumnal afternoon in Granada: The bridge presenting a beautiful forefront for the trees and the afternoon sun to be reflected in the river. While past the bridge one can make out another brightly lit promenade on the opposite shore. On the other hand, the female figure sauntering along the path in the bottom left corner with dark clothes and hair decorated with a single red rose and the man viciously glaring after her give the painting a mystical quality that disrupts the idyllic autumnal nature of the scene. Boyer traveled to Spain and even wrote the novel "Fuegos Fatuos. Fragment aus dem Leben eines fantasierenden Müßiggängers" (1910), which is based on the life of a man living in Granada. Beautiful work showing influences of impressionism.

Otto Boyer 1874 Ückendorf / Gelsenkirchen – 1912 Jena 1894–1902 Studium an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Heinrich Lauenstein, später Meisterschüler bei Eduard von Gebhardt. Studienreisen in den Mittelmeerraum und nach Vorderasien (Kaukasus). 1906 Teilnahme an der Nationalen Kunstausstellung Madrid, Auszeichnung mit dem Orden Alfons XII. Mitglied im Düsseldorfer Künstlerverein "Malkasten" und der Freien Vereinigung Düsseldorfer Künstler, aktive Beteiligung in der dortigen Künstlerszene. Umzug nach Weimar, wo er sich der Literarischen Gesellschaft anschloss. Boyer verstarb früh im Alter von 38 Jahren.

A stone arch bridge is seen in the background. As Boyer painted a lot in the Mediterranean, this work was probably done in Italy or Spain. The painting is in very good condition with only minimal traces of age. The blue and gold-painted wooden frame is slightly bumped. The work including the frame measures 80 x 68 cm. Otto Boyer (1874-1912) Otto Boyer was part of the Malkasten artist group and lived in Weimar and Düsseldorf. He often travelled though Italy and other Mediterranean countries, painting many of his works there. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
