In-8, demi-veau brun avec coins, dos orné (Reliure du XIXe siècle). Troisième édition du Compleat Fruit and Flower Gardener, relative à la culture de la banane, de l’ananas et de la mangue notamment, comprenant en édition originale un intéressant traité de la pomme de terre. Plus de cinquante ans avant Parmentier, il s'agit d'un des premiers traités sur sa préparation (en purée, en pudding ou frite en tranches). La pomme de terre était présente sur les tables britanniques dès la fin du XVIIe siècle. C'est par erreur que l'ouvrage est attribué à Richard Bradley. Il comporte une jolie planche dépliante représentant la bonana.

With the observations and remarks of the most celebrated hop-planters in Britain, 'second edition', half-title with advertisements verso, engraved frontispiece (tightly bound in), a few small woodcut illustrations in text, occasional spotting, lightly browned, contemporary calf, gilt, rebacked in 20th century brown morocco, corners little worn, rubbed, [Fussell p.113; Goldsmiths' 6838; Henrey 506; cf. Hunt 477 & Perkins 221 (first edition)], 8vo, Printed for D. Browne, at the Black Swan, without Temple-Bar, [c.1733]. ⁂ Rare at auction. A reissue of the first edition of 1729 with new title page and half-title. Bradley was a Fellow of the Royal Society and in 1724 was elected the first Professor of Botany at Cambridge. Henrey says that he was 'outstanding for his versatility'.
