Thierry Guetta, alias Mr. Brainwash, is a Paris-born street artist who moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15. He sold vintage clothing in L.A., New York, and Miami until a 1999 trip to Paris, where he met street artist Banksy who encouraged him to create art. Mr. Brainwash's most notable pieces depict pop culture icons using various media including broken vinyl, stencils, and street signs. The demand for Mr. Brainwash's paintings for sale shot up as his notoriety increased.

Many of Mr. Brainwash's prints are in the form of serigraphs. When generating his art, Mr. Brainwash uses a mixture of historic and current pop culture references to create a curious type of graffiti. The documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, about his personal development as an artist, was nominated for an Oscar in 2010.
