      MASSACHUSETTS, 1869-1953 An oil on canvas landscape painting by Massachusetts WPA artist Charles E. Buckler. Having been heavily influenced by Claude Monet, Buckler depicts a white cape house with green shutters by a red barn using a post-impressionist style with a naturalistic color palette. The background is decorated with newly bloomed springtime foliage. The work is signed with partial double signature on canvas lower left. The reverse is titled "Springtime" and signed "W.P.A. 1938 C.E. Buckler". The painting is housed in its original gilt wood frame.
